The Experience: Ramsey Park is a cozy older park located off of 45th Street. The playground is great fun for children of all ages. The park had one feature that is not common these days and which generated great excitement from our children - a tall slide. And I do mean tall, maybe twelve feet, to the extent that one father watching his preschooler climb the steps turned to me and said, "I hate this slide." I shared his trepidation, yet it was great fun to watch the kids come hurtling down. The school age playscape was also a lot of fun, as it had a secret message tube that worked very well, a rock climbing wall, two slides, and a monorail to hang from and slide. There was also a preschool playscape, four baby swings, and four regular swings. There were small pebbles covering the surface by the regular playscape and tall slide, but wood-colored rubber chips covered the surface beneath the preschool playscape. There is a pool in the park, and there are several picnic tables dotted around. We noticed on an unusually cool day in September that there were several people having picnics on blankets as well. Kids were riding bicycles and tricycles on the tennis court, and fathers and sons were tossing balls to each other. It was a very pleasant family scene. There is ample shade, a water fountain, and restroom in the park.
