The Experience: We were highly impressed with this restaurant, which had been recommended to us by many others. The 6th street location is in a Victorian house and the Arboretum location is on top of a hill with a wonderful climate-controlled patio. The patio at the Arboretum location had cool breezes even on a late afternoon in June. We got the Tejas Trio (picante sauce, queso, and guacamole with chips) for an appetizer. They also provide a plate of homestyle cornbread while you are waiting for your meal. We had a pork dish with verde sauce, and the wild mushroom enchiladas; everything was great. The kids' menu has grilled chicken pasta, crispy chicken strips with fries, chicken quesadilla, grilled cheese sandwich with fries, or a burger with fries. In the mid-afternoon, when we went, it was not crowded so our kids were even able to explore the outer part of the patio while we were paying the bill. There is a beautiful view from the patio. Our friend reports that the Sixth Street location is child-friendly in that it is loud inside, so the kids' voices do not stand out above the crowd. We would recommend going early if you are going on a weekend evening, because it was already starting to get crowded when we left at 6:00 on a Saturday.
Before you go: Bring your appetite! Go at an off-time if possible. You may want to warn your kids that the grilled cheese sandwich is made with a soft white cheese, not the American they are probably used to.

How to go cheaper: Skip the appetizer if you need to save money. The restaurant will serve delicious cornbread to eat while you wait. Also, try going during lunch hours to save money.

Birthday Parties: The restaurant will host special parties and events; call for information. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a child's birthday party.

Accessibility: Coming soon.
