The Experience: Vulcan Video is a great place to go for hard-to-find movies. On our first visit, we were able to find two movies that we had been looking for but unable to find at Hollywood Video or Blockbuster's. There were a lot of cult classics and esoteric movies that had been recommended to us but we had never seen. The store also rents new releases, comedies, dramas, and the other usual genres. At the south store which we visited, the children's movies covered one shelf. Many of the movies were VHS. The store had concrete floors and smelled musty and there was a wasp buzzing around the shelves. The employee at the counter seemed quite depressed. However, the store fit into the SoCo atmosphere just fine. We saw many families come into the store that looked like they had walked over from houses nearby. Later, I saw one reason they may have walked, when there was no parking available for me to turn in the videos. The prices were great; we went on a two-for-one Wednesday and rented four movies for $5.
