RadiJazz Playnasium

Location: North,
In/Outdoor: Indoor
Activity level: High

Features: Radijazz is a children’s indoor playground, featuring a riverscape with foam animals like a crocodile and swans, and boats to climb onto and into, a large volcano pit filled with foam blocks, a lavascape sloping area to roll down or slide down, decorated like a volcano, a large playscape, and a toddler play area.

Cost for a family of four: $12 ($6 per child, grownups get in free with kids; babies under 1 are $3)

Best for ages: 1-7 (the website indicates that older children are also welcome if accompanied by a younger sibling.)

The Experience: Radijazz is a great place to let your kids run wild, as all the play structures are made from soft foam (yes, they can almost literally bounce off the walls). The older kids have fun diving kamikaze style into the lava pit, or being thrown in by obliging adults. It is also great fun to throw the lava pit blocks at each other. Occasionally some stray foam from the blocks can get into kids' eyes, but other than that, injuries are rare. There are pillows the kids can ride on to go down the slides faster and giant beach balls everywhere to throw. The price is great, and the adults always seem to have as much fun playing as the kids. It is a wonderful, air-conditioned way to spend a couple of hours burning excess energy. The employees are playful themselves, and willing to engage in play with kids who want to. There are movie seats along the wall for adults to rest in when they want to.
Before you go: Make sure your kids are in shorts or pants, and make sure it's not Sunday, when it is only open for large private parties (as in, parties that rent the whole building out).

How to go cheaper: If you go frequently, you can buy a membership, varying from 1 month to 1 year (see website for prices).

Birthday Parties: A great place for parties. We really enjoyed the one we had here. Call ahead to reserve your table. There is a $35 reservation fee. You pay $6 per child for the first ten children, then $5 for each additional child. There is a 10 child minimum. The only things included in the cost are the table and the guests' admission costs. Many hosts order pizza to be delivered during the party, or you can bring food from home to serve. Radijazz has also recently started offering party extras that can be added on to your bill, including pizza, cake, and party favors.
