The Experience: Libby Lu is a store that revels in everything girly. You walk into a small, all-pink, crowded, sweet-smelling, glittery, ultra-feminine paradise for young girls, and then listen to your daughter ooh and aah and ask for her allowance early. If the ready-made merchandise is not creative enough for you, you can mix up your own perfume, shampoo, or lip gloss. In addition to all the accessories, clothing, and cosmetics, they also sell popular little stuffed dogs with clothes and carrying cases. Girls will love browsing and trying to make a decision about purchases or items to put on their wish lists. Be forewarned that the store is small and crowded, especially during birthday parties.
Before you go: Arrange for the boys to wander off into the mall to say, Radio Shack, and meet you in 15 or 20 minutes.How to go cheaper: Just browse.
Birthday Parties: The parties look very fun, if you want a glamorous all-girl party, but they are very pricey. You may want to stick to a small group of close friends. There are four different packages to choose from, priced at $21, $25, $30, and $35 per person. The basic $21 package includes a hair and makeup makeover, complete with hairpiece and stick-on jewels (you pick from 5 looks), a backpack which you can fill with 5 party favors of your choice, a musical dance train, and a group dance. There are more gifts included with each price increase, with the $35 package allowing the girls to create their own pooch in addition to the aforementioned items.
