The Experience: People have different associations with Chuck E. Cheese, mostly directly correlated with their age, with the likability factor peaking at about age six and going downhill from there. If you can go with an open mind, Chuck E. Cheese can be a great place to entertain kids for two hours on days that are too hot, cold, or rainy to play outdoors. By its nature, Chuck E. Cheese is always noisy and fairly chaotic. However, the show room has lots of booths of varying sizes and can be a slightly quieter place to sit and eat or watch the show. The breadsticks with marinara sauce are good; we prefer them to the pizza. There are lots of games to play, for kids of varying skill levels and even adults, and most give tickets. All games cost one token. Many of the games are broken, but not labeled as such, so usually at least one in ten tokens are wasted in this way (you can find an employee for reimbursement). Some of the games also run out of tickets, so the kids are disappointed at the end of the game. There is a play area for little kids with a small playscape and rides. There are tubes along a good portion of the ceiling for crawling in. The kids’ and your hands are stamped at the door, so they can’t leave with other adults, and you can let the older kids play by themselves. Cashing in tickets for prizes is a great way to convince your kids to leave when they run out of tokens (in the excitement of getting the prize they may not notice that you are actually leaving). You will need at least 15 tickets to get a prize.
Before you go: Check for internet coupons or coupons in the newspaper, and grab your wallet.

How to go cheaper: You can print out a coupon from the web site; registration is required. You can also save money by skipping the pizza, and just ordering some breadsticks, or no food at all. There is no actual admission cost. There are token and food deals on the menu board.

Birthday Parties: Birthday parties are $9.99 per person for the basic package. Each guest receives 20 game tokens, a slice of chocolate cake, 2 slices of pizza, and a soft drink with unlimited refills. You will have a decorated table for 90 minutes with balloons, a visit from Chuck E. Cheese, and a birthday show. The birthday child will get a crown, special balloon, bag of cotton candy, and souvenir cup. You can reserve your party on line.
